Ultrasonic welding is the process of converting 50Hz electrical energy into high-frequency electrical energy using an ultrasonic generator. The converted high-frequency electrical energy is then converted back into mechanical motion of the same frequency using a transducer. The mechanical motion is then transmitted to the welding head through a set of amplitude changing rod devices. The welding head transfers the received vibration energy to the joint of the workpiece to be welded, and the vibration energy is converted into thermal energy through friction, melting the material. Ultrasonic waves can be used to weld multiple materials such as hard thermoplastic fabrics and films.
